Does Your AC Cut Out When It Gets Too Hot?
Hey Guys - I was wondering if any of you experienced your AC cutting out - i.e. blowing hot air all of a sudden...
Yesterday I was driving a stretch of Desert highway in Kuwait - the ambient temperature when I set out was 48 Degrees Celcius (abount 118.4 Fahrenheit) and inside I had my AC set at 26 (78f) and was perfectly comfortable...all of a sudden the AC starts blowing hot air - I notice outside temperature display showing 50 (122 F) - this only lasted for a couple of minutes - as soon as the ambient dropped to 49 it started blowing cold air again!
Do any of you know if the AC has been designed to cut out beyond a certain ambient temperature?

The thermometer that measures outside temperature is another issue; I don't know where it's located, but mine always reads 10-20 degrees too high when the car is parked. It takes about 10 minutes of moderate speed driving before it stabalizes to something reasonably correct.

Yeah - it's completely insane! If you're unlucky enough to break down in a remote area - and are stupid enough to try and walk - as a westerner you probably wouldn't survive a couple of hours...
I went the same route yesterday and it was even hotter - watched the ambient temp moving between 49 and 50 celsius (122 F) while cruising at about 130 kmh (80 mph) - but this time the AC stayed working OK. I guess that cut-out the other day was just a blip.
According to the owner's manual the Ambient temperature doesn't go above 50...

It seems to make sense though, that the AC would cut off before the car overheated tbh, and at 122 degrees running with AC you might be pretty close to that happening...

Barely hits 90? I'm in Southern California and it's supposed to be 103 tomorrow.
I sure am glad I don't live near you ... hehehe
It got like into the "blazin" mid 70's today here in Irvine.... lol

PS.. i'm not talking about the "Thunder Road" where your tires sound like jet turbines... Tha 5 mile stretch has been there since I remember...
