Default Front License Plate

When I took my car home from the dealer I noticed that the front license plate bracket was literally drilled into the front bumper. There are taps for the bolts but It doesn't look nice at all, is everyone's GS like that? When I bought my Acura in 1997 there were tapped holes in the bumper that could easily be covered by paint matched caps/covers, looked real nice if you didn't put your front license plate on.

When I bought mine they had me sign a paper that said that I knew, "By Law" that I was supposed to have a front license plate. They told me that they would not drill any holes. I do know that some of my friends have gotten fix-it tickets at airport parking lots by the police who drive up and down the rows looking for cars that don't have front plates. Revenue generation at it's lowest IMO.

I had the same problem. I paid a body shop to fill them in and paint over. Now you could never tell. Cost about 300 bucks. Wanted it perfect without plugs or tabs

My salesman told me that the front bumpers were being drilled in NJ, because all states in the NE require two plates. I think he was trying to cover his mistake.

I ordered two plugs for about $30 from bumperplugs.com and they look great.

Mine was like that too. I heard that it is the law now they have to do that. I didn't like it either, but what can you do......

My car came without a front plate (or holes drilled) and it was suggested to me that I bring it in to be attached at my convenience. My salesman also commented that several people had refused delivery because of front plates.

I saw a 06 GS300 today with a front plate and it had a thick backing plate. Is that OEM? or does the plate attach straight to the bumper?

The license plate bolts to a bracket and in turn bolts to the bumper. I specifically asked my dealer to NOT drill the holes in the bumper when they installed my plates. They put on the rear and left my front plate on my seat when I picked up my car.
