All GS430's will suffer from excessive brake dust d/t the high performance brakes. Yes, it's a pain keeping the front wheels clean.

I don't think it can be any worst than Brembo.... I recently upgrade to Brembo BBK and it only takes a day to have brake dust cover my anodized lip!!!!

Yeah, I've been noticing that too, my wheels are a mess, and I've been driving very carefully. Can't wait to get past the breakin period and let it loose...

I love the feel and performance of the brakes, but the dust is pretty bad...

Break dust sucks that’s for sure but it's not just Lexus, most cars, no all cars will produce break dust unless you use a metallic break pad, you still get dust but not as much, the draw back is a harder pad with more metallic will produce less dust but will cause pre-mature rotor wear and also cause groves in the rotor if the pad you use was manufactured with more metal particles molded in the pad in one general area. In short we must live with it until somebody invents a better break pad which has been tried with no success as of yet as far as I know.

I just had my brakes done and the shop tried to get the longer lasting lower dust pads but they are not available yet for the 06 GS430. Unfortunatley I did not have another 2 months to wait. So make sure you ask your independent dealer to get these pads for your next brake job.

After how many miles did you change your brake pads?

A friend of mine had huge dust problems on his BMW 745 a few years ago. He tried different pads, and within 5,000 miles his rotors were toast.

I think we need to just deal with the dust. Besides, it's a good excuse to get out there and pamper your car...

I have 17K miles so far. I found an independent shop in Huntington Beach that has great prices, uses Lexus parts, and has former Lexus techs to do the work. They are called RPD Automotive and I would highle recommend them.

Have you had any other work on your car done there beside a brake job? What do they charge for an oil change? What, may I ask, did they charge for the brake job and what exactly did they do? Curious since I live in Huntington Beach.

Default another solution....

When I switched to OEM chromes from Sewell my brake dust prob all but went away. I think the dust sticks to the matt finish more than the slippery chrome.

You may have a point there. My '05 RL had significant brake dust but my '06 M45 has very little. It has the sport rims which are not really chrome but not matte either. Maybe it is the rims because the M definitely has high-performance brakes.
