Default Paint touch up kit

A valet parking guy was so “kind” that he scratched the bumper of my new GS ( and did not tell me). I have noticed the damage only next day. It is about 10”x3” scratch, pretty bad. I called my dealer, they do not have the touch-up kits and it will take about 2 weeks to get it. I called Longo and they had it in stock and they will ship the touch-up paint to me today. Well, some dealers are better than others...

Yikes, this is why I'm so paranoid about letting valets park my new GS. Is there any chance the valet company will accept responsibility? Most likely not, but maybe worth asking. Good luck.

I had a "bumber-to-bumper" scratch/smudge on another car and was able to rub almost all of it out with Meguire's #2 followed up with #9. If the paint is metallic you have nothing to lose by trying something like this first. If it doesn't work then try the paint. But touch-up paint is very hard to make invisible unless it is non-metallic. Or maybe your scratch is down to the "bone" exposing the urethane, so there's no alternative but paint.

Good luck!

Got my first door ding this week. I had a complete meltdown! Driver side rear door, big dimple with white paint on it. I think the ding king guys can get the dimple out but not sure how deep the paint damage is. I wish people weren't so f'ing thoughtless.

Yeah, I got my first scratch after having the car for less than 1 week. It's a very fine scratch only about 1/4" long, but it's on the upper portion of the rear door so it's noticable. I touched it up and it's less noticable now. Fortunately it's just a scratch and not a dent. With the body style of the GS the doors are just begging to be dinged!

wow, sorry to hear of the scratch. depending on the depth, i would definitely try alternative means before doing the touch up paint. it is just really hard to get it right.

my mother recently borrowed the RX and when it came back it had a white paint scratch about 4" x 2" (maybe from my garage, i am not sure) on the front bumper corner. i took a look and noticed it wasn't deep, and thank goodness the car was just detailed recently so it had a nice coat of wax on there. i used a little nail polish remover on a cotton ball and rubbed it over the scratch and all the paint came off (from the scratch, not the car's silver paint!). then i just used a little wax to protect that area again. not sure if this is recommended, but it did the trick and looks perfect - definitely helps that the car is silver. wish i had taken before after pics, it is pretty amazing what it can do.

Default Touch up kit

First of all, thanks for everybody’s sympathy. Although it pisses me off, I am not losing any sleep over this. It’s just the money after all! I hope I will be able to post some picks. The issue is that this is a new model and some dealers do have the touch-up kits and some of them don’t. What about spare parts? You can drive with a scratch…..
