Just changed from the 5 series to the new GS

Why is there always some mention of the M when there was no mention of Inifniti or the M in this thread in the first place? And ironically it's always brought up by the usual suspects?

Is that reason enough?

Folks, thanks for the welcome note. I wish there was a Lexus forum as good as this in Singapore. I will have to admit that this forum did influence my decision to buy the GS in December last year and it did not help to make the wait any easier as I only recieved the car two weeks ago.
I drove the 525 and yes the 520 is the most popular car here but it is underpowered not that we need it here as there are not mountains to climb and it is a half an hour drive across the length of the island.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to CL.
O.K guys Michael NG already got the GS. By telling him " Why don't you get this and that?" is not gonna change anything.
We're already discussed about the topic between the GS and the M on so many threads and we dont' want to see the same old sh?t on the topic that stated " JUST CHANGED FROM THE 5 SERIES TO THE NEW GS".
P.S, For the BMW fans, when we're talking about "M" we mean the M45, not the M Power by BMW....Sorry about the confusion.

For the 5 series indeed 520i is most popular here. An interesting fact, I met a director of a company at the 3GS launch at Ritz Calton in March who booked the 3GS and told me he too will be giving up his BMW 5 series ‘cos after 1 year of driving his '02 BMW, it began to leak and all the small problems started to surface. He met someone at the BMW workshop recently who's driving the latest 5 series and asked him howizzit, the reply was, "don't even think about it!". Like me he's looking forward to the new GS now. By the way Nissan Infinity is not present in Singapore now. They've given up their luxury badge here.
Over here sad to say Lexus don’t offer GS430 only GS300 is available. One interesting fact, Lexus here threw in a full sports rimmed spare tire like the other 4, not those donut ones.
I've just given up my 350Z that I drove for just 11 months for the Silver color GS300 which I'm collecting coming Tuesday. Still keeping the RX300.

Hmm, this is not relevant for our case since Infiniti is not represented in Singapore. Previously there was the Q45 but it was a flop here.
It is great to see some Singaporeans at CL and to know that they are seriously considering/choosing Lexus over the classic 3 status marques of MB, BMW and Jaguar.
I am expecting a crystal frost white/ash sometime in end-May since the GS is doing pretty well over here. There is also a nice review of the GS in a local car magazine, Carma that I will try and post when possible.

I've removed your off topic posts... if you have any issues or questions about that, PM me.
============================
Michael,
Welcome to ClubLexus and enjoy your new GS! I assure you this forum will become more useful to you in a short period of time as the number of 3rd gen GS owners grow and begin to develop a great knowledgebase about your vehicle.
Due to the introduction of several competing models from different brands, we have a bit more X vs Y model discussion than we normally do on our forum. It will pass before long, enjoy your stay!

How much?
Guys, try asking Mike Ng and NewGS how much the new GS costs in Singapore. If I'm not mistaken, they have a 200% tax rate and you have to purchase a COE certificate which is a document that allows you to actually own a car.
If a GS is roughly 45k to 55k, I think Singapore's pricing should be around $135 ,000 to $165,000. You can get a 911 Turbo or Ferrari for that kind of money in the US!
