You can take out the vent above the monitor. Don't have to, but you can. Just a little tight, but comes out and goes back in smoothly.

I did the DVD bypass on my car and I have to get to the connector in the back of the nav screen.

Don't worry guy I did some research and reading the Repair Manual before I started to tear up my own car with 26 miles on it...

I didn't take the picture of the connector that I bypass, because I believe it's legal issue. I just did this on my own car and no one can sue me or CL...

I have to installed the rocker switch for the speed sensor to turn it on or off. The advantage of this mod for the 2006 GS are.
1. The passenger can enter the destination on the nav while the vehicle is moving.

2. I can go to " My phone boook" on the Bluetooth screen and make a call while the vehicle is moving.

3. DVD bypass is nothing new to me if you know my 2001 GS430 that I did the bypass with rear camera back in 2002.

Why do I need to turn it on or off with the rocker switch?

Because, if I turn it off the nav will not know that the vehicle is moving( disconnected the input from the speed sensor to Nav ECU). I've tried this morning going to work with speed sensor turn off, the nav screen show almost correct location, but the street name is show the street in my subdivision. As soon as I turn the switch back on( connected the speed sensor to the nav), it took about 5 seconds for the car figure it out and show the correct location and street name. I dont' have time to play with the fuel consumption info yet, but the " Cruising Range" on the instrument cluster and the one on the " Trip Info" are show the same numbers.

I used the rocker switch I got it from Home Depot, but I don't know where to mount it yet. I see an opening by the cup holder lid and mount the switch inside the cup holder, anothere one is the slot next by the driver side heat/cool switch. The last one is tape the switch by center console, this way I don't have to cut any of the expensive trim.

My override is not as good. I can not input address while driving. I need to change for maximum usage.

Not sure how large the rocker switch is but you probly could pop out that small coin holder by the ETC switch and install it there for a nice clean look. Just an idea since you've had it ripped far enough apart.

I was thinking about this idea, along with mount the switch under steering column. I got the rocker switch from Lowe's. I don't know the part#, but the # from the receipt is 76314.

The panel the hold the ETC, Heated seats and ECS is easy to remove, just pry it out. Then you have to remove the coin holder from the bottom side.

Run the bypass wires underneath and connected them to the switch. Sorry, for the poor picture.
