GS/M35/45/RL comparisons

Acura says all the RL interior is real wood - I guess you'd have to take a knife to it to really find out.
Th Legend Fuga article was posted in another forum. The RL 7.4s 0-60 seems a bit suspect - I think I've seen numbers down to 7 even for the RL - maybe the JDM Legend is weigh down by even more junk that then US RL. The track figure I can see - weight is a killer on the track but it seems like all of the current mid sized sedan (except the 5 series) are getting prokier with every new version (granted some of the are getting bigger too - although the rl got smaller).
Other than the 530 at just under 3500 lbs (I guess thanks to all the aluminum) it seems like all of the contenders are 3700lbs+ with the RL, AWD M35 and A6 pushing 4000lbs. Just think how well any of these sedans could handle if they could keep the weight down to the typical 3100-3200lbs of the Japanese USDM mid sized best sellers (Accord, Camry, Altima). Nissan already admited that their offerings need to go on a serious diet (they wanted to cut 10% weight) but I guess they'll start after this round of sedans. I guess it's cheaper/easier to add HP than to cut weight.

Various US mags have gotten between 6.7s and 7.0s for the AWD RL. That is tops for 6-cylinder auto sedans in this class. The 245-hp GS300 RWD will be at best a low 7 second car. The GS AWD will be even slower, mid-7s or even high-7s.

ok whell from what i have heard around the gs300 which is 45hp less then the rl is a 6.7sec 0-60 and the awd one 7.0-7.2 sec so considering whos got the more hp lexus takes this one

Even if your numbers are true, RL AWD is 6.7s to 7.0s (clocked by independent mags), and the GS AWD is 7.0s to 7.2s (optimistic estimates?). Exactly how does the GS "take this one"?

Pole Position
I think in Japan they use KMH not MPH.
So numbers are either 0-100Km/h or 0-62Mph
Usually difference between 0-60 and 0-62 is about 0.3-0.5 secs. Depends on a car and driver of course

Bottom line is that the diff between the RL and GS will be much less than the paper 55HP diff would sugest. Besides, no owner in this car class cares about minor things like this other than folks on a car forum.

There is no way that a similarly loaded GS AWD is $8000 less than an RL.
The current GS300, WITHOUT AWD, MSRPs at $45,600 with premium audio and Navi. The 2006 GS AWD will probably be about $50k similary optioned, approximately the same as the RL.

msrp gs 300 awd around 42-43 with navi no word yet on audio options but the fully loaded gs430 is gunna be around 53-55 so ur a bit off u gotta remember thoguh u can only get the v6 in awd their is no optional awd for the v8

No offense but having 300hp and being that slow, I'd just kept it rated at 225hp. It would have sounded more impressive.

The AWD RL has been clocked at 6.7s.

So even if the GS AWD is 7.0s, I still don't understand how it "takes it". As I've said, the MSRP of a similarly loaded GS AWD will be about the same as the RL.
I know that this is a GS forum, but come on.

Being that slow? True, 6.7s doesn't sound impressive for 300hp, but fact is that it is the fastest V6 sedan in its class, although I think the M35 will unseat it.
