Default Which engine on the new GS

I was wonderin if the new GS will be GS330 like ES330 or still be GS300.
Would it not be improper to have the smaller engine on the sportier GS?

The new GS actually has a brand new engine. A new V6 3.0 not like the ES300. "The all new GS will feature an all new direct injection, dual VVT-i 3.0L V6..."- CL article.
I think what's somewhat confusing on the article is that they mention three engines? 3.0 V6. a V8, and a 4.3L VVT-I V8. Are the two V8s the same engine or are they completely separate?
The new GS is obviously the answer to Infiniti's G35x. The new GS is a much more luxurious than before.
I wish they would bring back the old SC styling, more sports less luxury. And maybe they should bring a Active towards the US.... That would be the hottest selling thing in America. Nissan is rumored to be bringing an R35 to the States, but under the Infiniti nameplate. G35-R? Supposedly the G35 coupe with AWS,AWD and TT standard. Never really understood why Nissan dropped a V6 instead of the Skyline L6. Lexus should maybe step up and bring an Active to the states as well, maybe with some more sport-tuned options.
An Active SC430 would be sick but to kick it with the G35-R it would definetly need AWD. And maybe lose the convertible hardtop (less stability).
Only the future may tell...

BTW Toyota HINT HINT HINT HINT HINT! ACTIVE IN THE US!!!! YOU'VE GOT THIS GUY ON THE LIST FOR A BUY.

Uh don't think so. The GS will compete with the M35/M45.

The US will get the GS350 eventually - but some options will stay JDM only.

I wonder if Lexus is going to surprise us all in the North American International Auto Show in Jan 15 by announcing the change in engine displacement.

The 3.0 announced is a brand new design. Maybe it's a cheaper engine to produce than the 3.5 and because of the exchange rate it makes more sense to put in the 3.0 in the entry GS to hit a certain price point.

Good point,. Don't you just hate it when the bean counters keep you from the good stuff.

I am holding a newspaper confirming from Lexus the GS hybrid will be sold in 2006. So I am thinking the hybrid will be the 3.5 liter V-6 plus hybrid=GS 460
Lexus has promised their cars will offer more and more engine choices
