I was really looking forward to the intro of the new GS after owning an '01 GS and an '03 GS SD, but now I'm glad I put a deposit on an '05 RL. I love Lexus (especially GS), but I don't see anything here that breaks new ground. And after seeing the comments about dealers potentially charging more than MSRP...

I figure an '06 GS430 will probably sticker around $53k loaded, then if dealers charge a premium we could be well above $55K. For my purposes, that makes the RL a screamin' deal. RL exterior may be somewhat bland, and I'm sure the GS4 will beat it 0-60, but for me that's not enough to make it worth the wait.

Not trying to stir up a GS vs. RL debate because I've been a long-time Lexus owner/CL member. Just putting in my .02. Pretty disappointed.

I bet you that V6 in the new 06 GS300 is the 2GR-FE 3.0L derivative of the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 from the 4Runner/Tacoma and what's up and coming for the next generation IS... 3GR-FE 3.5L V6 and 4GR-FE 2.5L V6.

I doubt it. The new 3.0L V6 in the GS uses direct injection technology, so I doubt it's a version of the Tacoma V6. Also, if the GS300 is going have a 3.0L V6, there is no way in hell the standard engine in the next IS3XX is going to be a 3.5L V6. The IS3XX will probably get the same engine as the GS300, the 3.0L V6 with 245bhp.

I was one of the new GS' biggest haters but this picture shows a lot of the body detail. I may change my mind.....

alot of people are so used to the current GS body style and fascinated with their car that they don't want to accept the new look yet. i'll bet you that after a time period, the new gen GS will grow on alot of people. i'm pretty sure when the 2nd GS came out, not everybody was excited about it and there was alot fo review about the look of it, either you like or you don't. Being in it's eighth years of production, alot of people have grown to love the 2nd gen throughout the past eight years. lets just wait to see it in person and maybe a few months after, lets see how many people will change their mind like some have already. just my 2 cents.

this is the truth for any car, especially when a car gets a major face-lift going into the next generation. i think after 8 years, its good that Lexus is changing the looks dramatically.
