weird feeling on this...maybe
i have a guy who is calling about my car quite often, and says he is interested in my car. He is from michigan/ohio border, and he drove all the way down to lexington, ky to check it out. I was a little weiry about it due to the fact i am only one person, so i had my dad tag along for the test drive and look over. When the guy arrives, the first thing i do it show him the stereo, and he hardly even looks at it. Next i am explaining the l-tuned kit, and telling him about the lip and then he says, those mufflers need to go (talking about my greddy exhaust. He said it would be too loud, without hearing the car. So he wants to go for a ride. So he goes for the back seat, but my dad was like nah, buddy you can ride up front. So we are off, and i am explaining about the car, and he mentions my nav unit. He asks if it is stolen if this could track it. I said yeah. Then my dad is asking him what he does, and he said he would for so-n-so, and i called his cell phone and it was a totally different type of business. After he gets back from the test drive he says he will be back in 20 minutes with the money, i wait 1 hour to a hour and 1/2 and he don't show up, but he calls back @ 10 oclock that night. It was about a week later, and he calls again...this time he wants to buy again...so he is coming back down in a week or so...i am weiry and we were prepared for the worst the first time...not in a paraniod sense, but when dealing with strangers with over 30k...you can't trust anyone....thoughts???

Im just shooting in the dark here, but if he does buy it, definately certified check. Even better if there is a way your bank can call his to verify that the check is legit and the funds are available.
Also...go with your gut....if something isnt sitting right with you, it probably isnt right then.
5 years ago I was selling my car. Not that much $$ $9,000 to be exact....anyway the dude was pretty shady and wanted to pay me with a credit card check. I tried to work with him in other ways, but ultimately, common sense prevailed and sold the car to the next guy.
There are too many scams out there these days.....Good Luck

he said he would pay with a certified check, and he said he would ride to the bank with me, and all that. Just amazed me about what little he wanted to know about the gs. He was driving a navigator...nothing special...but was talking about his zo6 and other things...just weird...and if your paying that much...you will ask questions.

Lot of people foget that two transactions must happen.
Exchange of money for the vehicle + transfer of title.
If any one is concerned about a sale, take care of the money part as well as official transfer of title at the county court house. [This is more than signing the title over]. Minor (parking tickets) to major (use of vehicle for illegal stuff) will keep coming to the previous owner.
There may be a catch on the insurance as well. The purchaser usually has 15 days to buy a poilicy.

I had the same paranoia about a kid who purchased my BMW. I simply had him meet me (and my Dad) at the bank during the day. We did the whole transaction in the bank...it was a beautiful thing!
That story seems very odd...I would be careful.
