Default AC clutch issue on my GS400

Hello Members,
Long time since my last post but need some AC help. A reputable shop (my son works there) diagnosed my ac issue as a locked up condenser clutch. Head tech says the Condenser is fine just a bad clutch. The problem is that they are sold separately and the clutch the sell now is not compatible with my oe condenser. I don't want to replace a good condenser for a new clutch. Has anyone else ran into this? Does anyone possibly have a good clutch off a bad condenser they want to sell? Does anybody have the old and new part numbers for these clutches. How about a source for these parts at great pricing?

GS has 111k miles on it and running great.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Dan

I think you are referring to the compressor, not the condenser. The condenser acts as a radiator for the ac system whereas the compressor is what is driven by the serpentine belt and has a clutch on it.

Why is it that the clutch isn't compatible with the compressor? I looked a little bit but couldn't find just clutches for sale. I did find this thread on the clutch bearing replacement though:

If all else fails, I'm sure Aliga has a used compressor or maybe even just the clutch, you should message him and see. You can find him in the classifieds; look for GS part out threads.

Yeah, my bad. It is the compressor clutch. It is not making noise just locked up. The pulley doesn't spin when you turn on the AC. A bearing replacement is not likely to fix this issue but thanks for the link. The best price i can find is at www.partsgeek.com $270 but will have to ship ground all the way across the US. Apx 7 days. Will i need to replace any additional parts if i swap out the compressor?

I haven't found Aliga's part out thread yet .....

TIA

Best to also change the condensor, cheap around 100$ for maximum ac cooling performance
