Post Running Rich

I had similar thing with my 01 GS300. Found that the ECT temperature switch located on drivers side bottom on radiator, that was causing the running rich problem. This sensor tells the computer that the engine is cold, thus the running rich problem. Had been driving it since I got it 3 years ago in this rich fuel condition.
Also found that when ordering the part it is vehicle specific, although the sensors of this type are used in many Toyota vehicles, they are configured just a bit differently. So, when ordering the part, make sure you the VIN number is considered.
Used lexuspartsnow.com to get the part. Had good luck with them. Very thorough. And prompt replies to any questions that you may have.

Good luck.

Default

Also had to replace the ECT thermal sensor which is on the head (not the block) first sensor under intake at no. one cylinder. The two sensors work together to tell computer what temperature the engine is at. Replaced both and so far it has been doing much better.

Radiator part no.: 89428 thermal switch Part no.: 84422-30030 thermal sensor.

ALWAYS use your VIN when ordering. (sensors and the like, are vehicle specific)
