Replacing headlight lens only
I am looking to replace only the headlight lens on my 2000 GS with this part:
Unit Assy, Headlamp, RH
W(DISCHARGE HEADLAMP)
Location: Passenger Side
Replaced by: 81130-3A152
Does anyone have experience with this replacement? Is it more involved then just swapping parts off of the existing assembly on to the new one? I have one perfect headlight ( insurance replacement ) and one original, the difference is getting to me so I need to replace! Thanks!

Most likely you'll have to take your front bumper off before you can take your headlight assembly off.
The lens swap itself is quite easy. Just bake it in an oven for a bit and pry it off of the housing.
Anyone who has done a retrofit knows this stuff.
Edit: I've never seen just the lens being sold. You'll propably have to buy the whole assembly unit. :/

You don't need to remove your front bumper to get the headlight assembly out. You just need to not be afraid to pull and push on it a bit, lol. Once you get all the bolts off it's pretty easy. As for just getting the lens, to my knowledge nobody sells just the lens. However, you could buy some cheap aftermarket Depo's and bake the lens off and switch em. Everyone talks about it, but I've never seen someone do it. They are supposed to meet or exceed OEM spec, so there shouldn't be a problem. Either way you're going to need to bake off the lens on the bad one. You could get it off, sand it down, and re-clear it also. That would make it look near mint as well.

Thanks for the feedback! So you both are under the impression that the part I listed ( here's the link for reference) is not just the housing without all the components that make up the entire assembly?

Thanks again!

If he hasn't taken off the headlights before he should start by going with the "hard" way to avoid any f'ups.

Sorry - just a bit of a misunderstanding in the way I titled the post. When I said lens I meant the housing itself not just the lens cover . I think we're all speaking the same language.
I was confused as the entire HID assembly is 1K, the non HID housing only is 400 or so and the HID housing is 270 ish. I was thinking it was too good to be true and thought I was missing something about what the part offered. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the feedback.

Both of my lenses on my HID housings are cracked. They aren't leaking yet, but I really should get on that before it gets worse. I'll probably end up doing exactly what you suggested with the Depo's

I found a cheaper headlight than the Depos:

At $88 each it's the cheapest I've found so far. Anyone know about the quality of these? I'm buying them just for the lenses so I don't care about the body, I just want to make sure they wont yellow within a year.

I found a somewhat local seller on ebay that might be able to find me just the lenses, but if they can't find them then I'll be looking at buying some used OEM halogen housings I can salvage the lens from and polish up. Either way I'll let you know.
