I wanted to share this information as it might help solve the pesty P0440 code.

I have been dealing with the P0440 code for some time. I’ve replaced the VSV on the intake, the VSV at the canister, replaced the gas cap (OEM), PCV hose and the PVC elbow (Pipe), the code will stay off for a longer amount of time, but keeps returning. I am not replacing the canister until I’ve done the least expensive things first. One guy replaced the charcoal canister and the code still returned. I have done a lot of reading and a lot of research into code P0440.

So in the IS300 forum (2JZGE), people are replacing the “Fuel shut off valve” which actually has fixed the code for good. The part is above the gas tank, but very easy to replace. The tank has to be dropped OR a cut out is done by going in through beneath the rear seat.

I posted the link and the video for this repair. I will try this soon after I order the parts from Lexus.
