Default Trying to remove bumper, bumper bolts are spinning!

The 2 bolts that hold the bumper on to the car on the sides are spinning. It feels like the back of the bolt feels like a clip, so that I have nothing to grab onto. Anyone know a trick to this?

These bolts here.

Those bolts are on a retainer, apparently they both broke off, kinda weird:

You can buy a new one, or just buy a couple of 10mm (maybe 8mm) bolts with matching nuts. I believe thats your passenger side, the retainers are only like $15 bucks, the part number for the right one is 5253530160, and 5253630150 for the left. You can find them on ebay

The major problem as of right now is that I cannot even get the nut off the bolt! I am almost out of ideas on this.

Thanks for the picture, so I have some kind of visual of how it is held together. I guess it may be possible that someone had removed the bumper prior, and rigged it or something, but I swear I am out of ideas at this point in how to remove that ****ing bolt.

Well you have to remove the ****ing retainer to get the bolts off. The retainer should just be clipped on, just a matter of getting a flathead or anything to wedge between the bumper and the retainer and pluck it out.

It absolutely looks worked on, it should look like this with 2 more holes for the clips:

Yours looks like they flushed it and covered the holes.

This is the clip that should be holding it:

This is the complete assembly:

The picture I provided was to show the bolts I am working with, that is not my car. The bumper is still securely in place on my car, and I am trying to remove the nuts, but the backs are spinning.

Oooooooohhh! Duh my bad lol

Try putting pressure downward on the bumper to try and get the bolt to bind on the fender just enough to hold the bolt in place. Worst case scenario you can remove the fender with the bumper and cut them off. Those are my least favorite to work with.

Question. Are you certain they're just spinning? Just doesnt make sense since they're welded to the retainer. If they broke, then they would just fall through the nut side of the fender. Are you using the right size socket? I believe its an 8mm and are you using a deep socket? If you're not, you might just be spinning on the end of the bolt

Yah, I am using a deep well and sure it's spinning. I can feel the backside with my finger, and actually tried stopping it from spinning and got pinched pretty good.

Judging from the bracket you showed me, I have no idea how it is doing this unless it rusted out the backside and broke away.

Looks like you are right, I am going to have to remove the fender to get this thing off.

Try getting a pair of vice grips. If you're feeling something spinning back there, they maybe theres just enough lip to grip with a pair of vice grips.

This is the back:

It has what looks to be a long tab, if the whole tab is spinning they you'll be in luck by just pinching the tab,

I haven't gotten back under there yet, but there does not seem to be enough room to get pliers on the other side of the brackets, especially the upper bolt.
