Default Double sided tape Wings and Spoilers

Installing a roof spoiler and trunk wing and I'm told to use 3M double sided tape, which I picked up at Lowe's. It's the heaviest duty. $20 for the roll. Is there something better for automotive use?
Just doesn't seem like it will hold. Also are my days of auto carwashes over with those installed?

The 3m tape is very strong, I could only see it failing if someone is trying to steal your parts. If the part fits decently, the tape should be fine, even in strong winds, high speeds, car washes, etc

2 years ago I had a poorly fitting roof spoiler which was held on by about 4" of 3m tape on each side. I was worried it would fly off but it held fine in highway driving. Even got it up to about ~150kph a couple times absentmindedly, but slowed it down worried the thing would fly off. But when it came time to remove it so I could re-form the wing, the tape was still super strong.

I'm still amazed at how good the 3m tape is. You will see once you use it, it's sort of like a thick foam that compresses when you push on it and becomes super adherent.

maybe you have a general purpose 3m tape, I'm not sure if they make different varieties. I found mine in the automotive paint/body section. It was a medium grey foam-0ish tape about 2mm thick, with red backing, and it says it is made for car body parts

I use clear silicone gel and 3M tape strips on mine. Just add a mound of gel in the ends and every 5 inches. Then tape it down overnight.

I bought a small rear trunk lip on Ebay and it came with 3M tape. Absolutely no problems with a commercial wand wash and also have gone through a regular automated car wash.

I used a combo of 3m automotive double sided tape and black windshield silicone. I wouldn't trust just the tape. But when using double sided tape don't forget the adhesion promoter!

I got an oguloction roof spoiler which cost me a pretty penny. I only used 3m 2sided tape. And that **** is on there real good. I actually need to take it off so car can go into paint, and window can get a waterspot removal. But I'm kinda scared I'm gonna break something trying to take it off my window. Lol. Just make sure surface is clean with no moisture, and 3m tape is all you really need.
