Sorry I wasn't clear, the 01+ housing will look lighter. In the last picture, the passenger side looks to be 01+ and the drivers side 98-00. You'll see a slight greenish tint to the chrome inside the light if you look for it on the 01+ while the drivers side is "normal" chrome. If the passenger light was on the car when you bought it, it appears the previous owner put on a 01+ light after the accident.

are you using a factory HID Ballast and an aftermarket ballast, yes or no.

If YES: the factory ballast gives off more power to the bulb.

its like a 5k 55watt HID ballast vs a 35w. 5k HID ballast. the 55w ballast will show the true 5k white vs the 35w which will have a hint of blue including the same bulbs

So what your saying is that the passenger light was replaced with a 01+ light which has a hint of green and the drivers side is from a 98 with a clear finish to it?

The passenger light is powered by a aftermarket ballast while the drivers side is factory.

So to make them match either would need a 98 passenger or a 01 drivers side? Right?

Mathing headlights along with matching ballasts, but matching ballasts is whats going to give you the color match of the light. even with matching headlight housings, you will still see a color difference using mismatched ballasts.

I used an aftermarket ballast on one side and oem on the other with no color difference. I only changed both out eventually because the harness was broken.

Someone willing to verify that this is the correct headlight I'd need, he said it's off a 2001 gs. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...197901&alt=web

Just asked, awaiting his reply. There's actually plenty of them in decent shape, and no broken tabs with ballast and even bulbs on ebay recently. Good time to get headlights if ya need em'! Just gotta make sure you in contact with a seller who knows his car parts. Otherwise your gonna deal with a headache like I had would the last two times I ordered a headlight off ebay
