Default Hid fog question

For anyone who has hid in their fogs, are you running a relay as well or just popped a kit in and called it a day? Any help is appreciated

Just popped in a kit. Been good for over two years now except one bulb burnt out about a month ago. Too cold to change it out right now.

Damn am I the only one that had a issue? Lol the ballasts I was using had relays on them. Passenger side igniter for the oem lows melted, blamed the his fogs.. But possibly the relay was in a stick position on the fog that made my low melt..they share the same line is what someone told me

Which brand did you go with? I'm using a plug & play kit with slim ballasts for years and have no issues.

Not sure of the kit name as it was some left over ballasts. Let me reiterate my question lol, is anyone running a relay with their kit? Or using a canbus kit?

I'm running a relay kit for my HID fogs, connecting straight to the battery.

So far there are 4 without (plug & play) and 1 with, not counting you. What are you looking to find out with these questions, other then a head count of those with and without extra wiring and relays?

Mainly if I'll need to run a relay or not. I'm still debating if I want to run the hids in the fogs. The kits I usually see are just ballast and bulb.

Everyone who says "plug & play" is essentially running without relays. My fogs even had the yellow insert and were on almost all the time. Never had an issue with wiring or melting plastic. The choice is yours but I for one say to save your time, and money, and just plug them in and enjoy.

I use a relay for mine. They were plug and play initially from iJDMtoy but for some reason one ballast kept going out and I'd have to replace it so I bought a relay in hopes to stop the cycle but recently my passenger side ballast stopped working but now works fine. Usually just my driver side is on when I start the car and I have to turn my fogs off then back on for them both to turn on. It used to be just the passenger side then I'd have to toggle off and on for my drivers side. It's confusing and it's my fourth ballast, idk what the problem is.

Funny thing I was having that same kinda issue. Found out the bulbs I was using were DC and not AC. Switched the bulbs and they worked fine. Until my oem ballast igniter plug melted. I blamed it on the hid fogs but couldn't pin point if I needed a relay or not because most are not using one and a few are.
