Hid problem need help:/
I'm in need of some desperate help. I have a 01 Lexus gs300 with HID. I recently just installed some hids into the fogs. The problem initially was that the bulbs I had were dc bulbs so they were interfering with my oem hid. To the point where when my fogs were on, it would kill one of the headlights. Swapped out the bulbs for ac bulbs as instructed and everything was ok until...2 days ago.
Passenger side went out. Had to pull Over then discovered that the igniter plug had melted onto the bulb! Wasn't too bad thought maybe it wasn't on tight. Cleaned it a little then reconnected. The next day, I start to smell smoke. Popped the hood and this time the connector is melted pretty bad. Went out to a junker to get a ballast and installed but removed the hid in the fog.
My concern was, why would the hid kit in the fogs do this to my oem lights? And why only one side? Or am I tripping and the connection was just simply loose. Any members with hids in the fogs and oem hid please chime in
any help is appreciated. I'd like to put the fogs back on but would hate to end up buying another ballast. Thanks!

I'm assuming it was the passenger side headlamp? For some weird reason (I found out through a shorting issue I was having, but with non hid fogs) the foglights and the passenger headlamp are on the same circuit. The melting may have to do with not having a relay setup to distribute the power evenly which in turn is effecting the headlamp on the same circuit.

Lol yea the two ballast I was using have relays on them. My friend told me maybe the passenger side relay was stuck open or close thus resulting in the headlight igniter melting. Will have to wait to see what happens. Not really in the mood to be on the ballast switch a Roo game
