Weird Reverse
Hey guys,
Not sure what it is but to me this seems like its a tranny mount.
When i reverse in a straight line, the car feels as if it jerks to shakes/hops as its going in reverse.
Wasn't sure if anyone else has experienced this?

What the hell, how do you know that? that's the least likely choice i would have made.
What did u do to diagnose that?
Are you doing it yourself?
Are the parts cheap, and where are you getting them from?

I, like you created a thread about my issue and did everything recommended except the rear upper control arms. Last time I went to my mechanic I asked if he could check out all my bushing in the rear that I hadn't already replaced. He said the only one that looked pretty worn was the rear upper control arm bushings.
I'm also getting my driveshaft replaced to fix other issues, but u-joints in the driveshaft could also be the issue(not lexus but from other truck and suv forums).
The labor for replacing the bushings for me is roughly 300 because they have to drop the subframe. The bushings can be bought from figs engineerings website for 140. Total cost for repair is 400-500.
Way cheaper than replacing the whole arm though, those are aluminum arms and can cost 500 a piece!

Hmmm... I wonder about your parking brakes. They are in the drum portion of your rear rotors.
Drum brakes can have a tendency to snag more one direction or the other if worn or out of adjustment, or if any retainers or springs are broken....
Might be worth a look... easy to open up....
or, jack up the rear end, put it in drive and let em spin, listen to the rears, then put it in reverse and let em spin, and listen to the rears.....

Hey man just wanted to know how this worked out for you.
I haven't tackled this yet because of work and school.
Going to work on it this weekend maybe :-)
