Default annoying humming noise

Hey guys recently removed my rear differential on my 98 gs400 to swap the OEM bushings with figs ones! I completely removed the diff, everything went well but now after I installed everything back on I've been noticing humming noise coming from the rear end that wasn't there before! Did I not install it right? Everything is snog and no lose parts or shaky parts! Is there any specific way to mount a rear diff?

May be the consequence of stiffer bushings. Stiffer bushings less noise damping?

So you're saying the humming noise are vibrations transmitted into the cabin by the Polyurethane bushings?

Same thing happened to me... Your diff is worn out, the poly bushings help amplify it. Do you get the humming noise while accelerating and when you let off the pedal at certain speeds? Me too...

Yup and the used replacement is doing the same thing... My advice to you is find a local mom and pop shop that will warranty the labor and parts of a used unit, that's what I'm going to do. Keep going through used ones until you find one that works.. Lol

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue.

On the new differential, did u transfer your figs bushings or were you using the OEM bushings that came with the diff!? Because on my gs4 the humming noise still present even after throwing the car on neutral, and I remember tightening the e-brake tensioner on the rear tires, I wonder if that's my issue...
