New Member-2JZGTE questions
Hello everyone!
New member here from Minnesota.
I am currently not a Lexus owner but I have previously owned a 1997 ES300, 2001 IS300 and 2002 GS430 (for 1 month). I am currently driving a "code red" 2005 Nissan Altima SE-R 6 speed (for sale). Besides these cars, I have also had an E39 M5 for a very, VERY short time.
Oh, did I mention I am an international student here in the United States?
Anyway, I'm planning on buying another second gen GS (as soon as I sell the SE-R) and planning on doing the infamous VVTI 2JZGTE swap. I had some questions regarding the swap. I've looked and looked up on the Club Lexus but I could not find proper answer to my questions. So, here goes and hopefully someone can chime in..
1. Will the JDM wiring harness fit/be able to reach the USDM GS hook up or do I have to get a USDM wiring harness? Some people said it will fit directly but my friend who has MKIV Supra N/T (380ish WHP) said the JDM wiring harness will be too short?
2. I planning on keeping it automatic and pushing 400-450 hp. Will that be safe for the JDM automatic transmission which comes with the motor?
3. What is the issue with the throttle cable being too short or too long?
4. What is the issue with fuel cut defender I will face?
5. Any other issues I will face or I should be prepared for the swap? I will be doing the swap with the help of my friend (MKIV Supra) because I want to do it and also because I don't want to pay $2,000 for a swap .
6. Last but not the least, if I get a GS with close to 200k, what will be downside? I am also worried about the interior creaking noise because I do not want that. I CAN get a GS with less mileage, I'm just trying to figure out if saving roughly $2,000 by getting a slightly higher mileage GS will cost me later.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums... There have been many swaps done with instructions and how to's in the last 10+ years... In the search function there is "advanced search". type your question or a few words that relate to your problem then check off 2GS box to the right..
You can also start a "build thread" when you purchase your GS so we can follow your progress.... GL
