Opinions on Torque Converter/lockup solenoid/transmission
So my car has been shuddering and drops RPMs very quickly to the point of stalling when I come to hard stops, if it does not stall, it shudders really hard and then the needle goes right back up. If I put it in neutral when I come to a hard stop, it does not stall. Idles funky... Only happens after the car is in operating temp, and after coming from certain speeds.
I went though an exhaustive list of things to address other possibilities and nothing fixes the issue. I started reading up on TC and it sounds like if lock up does not let go, TC will keep spinning and when the car brakes, it just instantly sucks all the speed down to a stall. This sounds like what my issue was.
Brought it to Toyota to have it diagnosed. I just gave them the symptoms. They confirmed the issue and said it was lockup solenoid and also said tranny was slipping (slipping has also been noted in prior maintenance notes from previous owner).
But I'm wondering if it was this solenoid, it being an electrical issue should set off a code. Before I buy a used tranny and have the new one popped in, do you guys think it is worth the time to try and flush and fill to see if I can get things moving?
I'm not prone to bring a 180k transmission in for a fix when I can just buy a used tested one for 400 and have it installed for another 4.
Is this feasible?

If its accessible from the pan or something yeah I could do that. Does anybody know what that actual solenoid is called in Toyota/Lexus terms?

So the "lock up" or TCC solenoid is solenoid 'C'? Isn't that code and solenoid related to a shift solenoid?

It throws no codes. Mine shifts through all gears. Just slips sometimes. I'm trying to figure out on google which one is lock up control for the torque converter. Whichever one that is is the one I need to replace if I don't just do the whole tranny.
