It was the rear cartier bearing, paying $520 to have it changed. I could have gotten another dorman bearing for around a $100, opted for the Lexus part for $234. The shop said you don't need to change it if I could live with the noise, but since a lot of m driving is at that speed, I couldn't handle it anymore. He did offer to trade his 2001 E430 with 80k miles for my GS though, which may not be completely out of the question.

you mean carrier bushing? in the rear control arm correct. you could have changed them yourself and save some $$ but the problem is fixed now. there is a sticky up top about the carrier bushing

Yes, It fixed it. The noise you are hearing is electrical noise.

Carrier* my bad, and no not in the control arm, but instead for the driveshaft. I guess they are also called center suppor bearings and just driveshaft support bearings.

Just an update, $556 later noise is gone. I could have done it cheaper, but I opted for the OEM part and went to a shop where I was able to get a loaner.
