Has anyone found a cure for the cold weather whistle noise?

I have a similar noise but my issue is the diff, my is at pretty much all speeds and more of a howling/grinding sound. Good luck with that fuel pump!

Never hurts to change diff fluid on these cars. We do work them hard. Lukas, it's good you have that video so if you can show the stealership that, it might get you started. But I have a obdII bluetooth and it never showed any trouble codes stored in the computer.

Now they might be able to translate fuel pressure and fuel trim for you. But for the cold whistle... you would have to drop the car off so they can test it during a cold start/drive.

It goes away after you drive the car and in warmer weather it was never there when I was dealing with this.

I have also heard our cars have body "plugs" underneath the driver and passenger areas and that they can fall out and cause wind noise, not sure if that would cause it or not. The shop I went to acted like changing the differential fluid was a stupid thing to do, but I like to baby this car

Climb under the car and see if you are missing plugs right along where u jack the car up from the drivers to the back on EACH side if ur missing a plug trust me your see it, your have a big hole, you will see the plugs trust me very easy to spot

I had my differential fluid changed in hopes of curing it but unfortunately that didn't affect it, someone mentioned possibly the fuel pump but my car doesn't seem to have any issues starting or accelerating, still stumped :/

How often does it do this? My car started doing it again, and while I replaced my diff a year ago, and the noise went away I rather not have to replace it again. I'm getting ready to set the ****ing thing on fire.

Have your driveshaft center bearing looked at. Based on these videos
. While both are AWD, the noise, as well as the speed, temp, and location of the noise all seem to be the same. Rear diffs have more of a grinding noise, and I feel like its a greater chance of a bearing than the diff especially since mine was replaced with an aftermarket from Autozone.

I've though of bringing it to Lexus to see if they can diagnose it, but it doesn't affect the driving any and I'll be buying a GS430 this summer and selling mine so I'd rather just save my money. Still would like to figure it out though since it could end up happening to a 430 too

About $200-300 in labor, and anywhere from $40-200 for the part. I've thought about selling it mine and getting a 4runner before law school, but we will see. Either way I'm getting it fixed as it is driving me nuts.

Let me know if that permanently fixes it, and thanks for the info

My '00 GS400 has been making that exact same noise when it's cold out between 30-40mph since I bought it back in 2008. She's up to 165,000 miles now and whatever it is, doesn't seem to do any real harm. Anyways, let us know if there is a fix found before the weather warms up.

Like the video, good idea for when we need to recreate symptoms for the maintenance personnel.
