Hey lexus gurus i have a serious question about my 1999 gs300
When i make a right turn instead of kicking into first like a normal car should, it stalls a bit to get into gear almost like it's in neutral but around 1500 rpms it gets into gears, i've taken it to different people and they all gave me different answers one said do a fluid swap another one said it may be an old hose, and the final one said it was a transmission problem that would cost a lot to fix. as a student in college a tranny swap would be a major pitfall in my finances (financial mistake), but if its a smaller issue then that would be great! i know lexus Transmissions are darn near bulletproof and last for god only knows how long!

Usual bet would be change the fluid (not flush though).

Not a power flush but if it has been a really long time since the fluid has been changed you will probably need to drain, fill and drive about 3 or 4 times.

Yup, only way to fix this is drain and refill your old fluid AT LEAST 4 times in under 50k miles. Its definitely not your tranny, dont worry. Your tranny will probably live longer then you.

remember flush it at least 3 or 4 times and drive at least 1000-5000 miles between each flush

Hey Guys, I have a similar problem w my 2002 GS300. I'm hoping it's not a major thing. Mine does that early in the morning after it sits all night OR parked for a few hours. I'd shift it to Drive & it would not move although I accelerate. Then, all of a sudden it'd shift & drive perfectly normal.
Any suggestions to what can cause that problem?

Like I told the other guy, DRAIN and REFILL (NOT flush) your tranny fluid at least 4-5 times with driving 5-10k miles between each drain and fill

The problem is always old fluid that has lost it's viscosity. These trannys never go bad unless abused and never had a fluid change. ALWAYS start by changing the fluid as many times as you can to get out as much of that old fluid as possible before you start thinking there is something wrong
