Default 2001 GS300 factory subwoofer is not working.

Hello,

I recently purchased 2001 GS300; for some reason, the audio system works fine, except for subwoofer. All of speakers work but subwoofer. The subwoofer does not appear to have any physical damage. Is there a fuse just for a subwoofer amplifier? What things should I check?

Thanks.

It's either seized or it was unplugged, check the wires for it, the plug you can't get to without taking the deck lid off. Either way u should upgrade since it prolly will blow anyways.

So there is no fuse that is only for subwoofer amplifier; there is only one fuse for the entire audio system, right?

Pull off the wires from the sub and take a AA, AAA,9V or what ever battery and put it across the terminals to see if you hear/see any thing. If not its blown.

Default Update (Problem found)

First, I unplugged the subwoofer connector from the audio amplifier, then I connected a function generator and fed the signal into the subwoofer connector. The subwoofer started playing the signal. At this point I knew that problem is in the audio amplifier. Sure enough, after taking it apart, the Toshiba TA8225H audio amp chip is burnt. I can buy this chip, and fix it (being an electrical engineer helps) but the used audio amplifier (entire unit) is about $20 on eBay - so I'l just replace the entire unit.

I hope this info helps someone with similar problem.

Below are the video of subwoofer test, and a photograph of burnt IC.

Great find, my sub isn't working as well and I hope this fixes the problem. Where is this amplifier located exactly and where were you purchasing the Toshiba TA8225H audio amp chip for $20?

The Toshiba chip is about $6. I will just replace the entire unit - it is about 20 dollars on eBay (used).

The audio amplifier is located behind the glove box, on the right side.

Not to revive an old thread, but this thread was my issue. Chip was burnt. Ordered another off eBay and my sub is working again. Might help someone else down the road.
