Can anyone tell me that what I missed in that left hand side and right hand side? I guess it should not be such a big hole in there. Because I brought a use car, I don't know what should be in there. Thank you so much.

By the way, it is 2003 GS300.

Everything looks normal. On the right side with the big gap, there is normally an amplifier there if you have the Nakamichi sound system.

Doesn't appear to be anything missing. If you had Nakamichi ('98-00) or Mark Levinson ('01-05), there would be an amplifier on the right side of the trunk.

Thank you!

I just think that the design for Lexus GS model with two big gap is so so poor!

I am guessing you think it needs a trim panel, but the trim panel is integrated into the carpet.

The "big gap" is made to house the upgraded stereo amplifier and navigation ECU. The only reason you have this large empty gap is because your vehicle did not come equipped with these upgrades, or somebody uninstalled them.

Once you install the removable truck floor you should not be able to see them anymore. If your trunk floor has a large cut-out on the right side area then the vehicle had factory navigation at some point

If you see the plastic spare tire cover and these openings all the time you are missing the removable carpeted floor, and the Lexus logo trunk mat that goes over it.

Navigation Cover on right side:

Factory Amp:

Navigation ECU (which sits over Amp):

Thank you for taking the pictures. I do have the removable cargo mats for covering the trunk.

Indeed, I can't see the gap when I am using the mats. But I just think it should have a trim panel for covering the gap whatever I upgraded or not because I can put some heavy things to the left hand side and right hand side. Now when I put something to these corners, the goods are always slip down the gaps.

This makes sense, I understand now. Most likely the lip that holds up the edge of the removable floor was stronger when the vehicle was new. I'm sure you can fab up a brace to strengthen that area if you wanted to.

Also the pics we borrowed from various other posts on CL.
