Help figuring out if I can install GROM audio in my 03 300
Hi Folks:
I ordered and recived my GROM unit and went to install it last week. The adapters don't fit and GROM is telling me that they don't have an adapter for my car which I find hard to beleive.
I looked thru hypers excellent DIY walkthru (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...intensive.html) and in post 6 he shows a connector that is similar to the one they sent me, which they designate as TOY1. This looks nothing like mine and in one of the pictures you can see his model number which is different than mine. The model number of mine is Pioneer CDX-M8227ZT and the part number is 86270-30210. My rear CD changer connector looks like this:
Now, they do have a compatilbilty chart (www.gromaudio.com/docs/compatibility_chart.pdf) which shows the LEX connector, but that has 20 pins, best I can tell from the graphic. Mine has 5.
I reached out to GROM and they stated that they don't sell an adapter for mine. The 03 GS 300 is not exactly a rare car.
Can anyone provide some advice? I really want to get this installed. Thanks!

I have exactly the same issue. Is the solution not to use the connector for the cd that is installed in the glovebox and instead take out the stereo and integrate grom that way?
I was really hoping to use the cd adapter, but not sure how.

I got this installed today. Somehow in the instructions and the YouTube videos I got the impression that if you had the CD changer in the glove box you hooked up a Grom unit there. This is not the case. I had to take the main radio out and connected to the back of that unit. This is slightly more difficult than any of the videos because in addition to removing the two 10 millimeter bolts at the bottom you must remove the air conditioning unit at the top and there are two additional gold color 10 millimeter bolts that have to also be removed.
Once this is done it's an easy connection. I'm still trying to figure out how best to run the microphone cable without pinching it.

you can't. It has to connect to the back of the radio. I was confused also, especially considering that it seems like most of the cars that have the changer connect there, but not in this case. Just make sure you get one of the plastic dash removal kits. I got mine on Amazon for about $3
