Exclamation My 01 gs300 will hang between 2nd and 3rd gear

Sometimes the transmission in my 2001 gs300 will hang between 2nd and 3rd gear
speed between (50-70 Mile) and then slam into gear. This only happens occasionally. Has anyone else had this problem. The dealer is puzzled. Thanks for any help.

try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for at least an hour that will help AND make sure you drain and refill the tranny fluid at least 3 times. That should do the trick...

If changing the fluid and filter helped and it came back that is your problem like I suspected. Your fluid needs to be drained and refilled at LEAST 4 times! You didn't listen when I said that. Once is not going to do anything what so ever. I guarantee you after draining and refilling, drive a few hundred miles between each drain and refill and you will be all set. I had to do that on my girls 98 GS4. It was very sluggish and hard shifting. After drain and refill a few times it was a night and day difference. Also check for any CEL codes maybe you have a code for a solenoid. That would explain that as well

A solenoid is an electrical wire connection that acts as a magnet of electricity to the transmission so when it goes bad it can make the transmission act funny in many different ways, mainly shifting hard or not shifting at all

Let us know by updating the thread if the drain and refills are working so somebody else who is looking for an answer to this problem can come across this thread and save themselves money and time. Alot of the time people get so happy when theire problem is fixed they just dissapear and dont say what worked for them so the next person researchning that issue has no idea what to do.

This service bulletin might be worth mentioning to the tech at your dealership. May or may not be your issue.

When does it happen, when its cold or up to temp?

I ask because mine hangs in second as im headed to work in the morning and leaving my neighborhood. So my issue is cold transmission at low speeds(30mph).
