Default Carpet Cleaning - bring out the big guns?

I've got the light 'tan" color carpet and it's covered it stains etc (thanks to my two year old mostly) and I can only image what lurks between/beneath the seats. Yea, I could use some Blue Coral and a brush to get most of the stains out. But I'm itching to take the entire carpet out and give it a high/med pressure wash. Question: Would that be over kill? My thought is that it should hang dry pretty quickly in the sun plus I'd be getting the 16 years of dirt and odors out. Thoughts?

I've taken carpet out to pressure wash with great results. But make sure it dries completely before you install it back so no mold can grow

How do you reinstall it right? Does it have to be sewn back In?

I was thinking the exact same thing myself. My carpet looks awful. I'll give it a shot now that someone else has tried it and it seems ok. Why would we need to sew it back in if we didn't have to tear it out?If I'm not mistaken you have to take the seats out and a few trim pieces, including the console, and viola! Install in reverse of taking it out.

Yeah I'd try to shampoo the carpet in the car or take it to a detailer to have it done before I pulled the carpet. They can do wonders for it without all the work of removing it.

I could just clean it (most of it anyway) w/o removing the carpet. But that seems like taking a shower with your clothes on. (lol) My carpet needs a good washing, not a wipe down. That hard part will be making my kid where footies after I do the cleaning.

Just get some custom clear mats after you do the cleaning.

i still think you can take out the front seats and clean all the areas you need without the headache of removing the carpet....

Ya know.. after all of my blabber, I punked out and just cleaned the carpet without removing it (or the seats). Came out just as nice I think. The cost-vs-benefit of removing the the carpet just didn't seem worth it after all.

I've used this product called Pledge. It works wonders guys! It cleans leather seats, the material on the dash and panels around the car, carpets (if scrubbed heavily deep), and even the suede on the roof! It's amazing. I regularly use it on all the dashes in all my cars. Keeps the dust at minimum. Try it!

Has anyone removed the entire carpet?

I did that once on my previous car the only way to really deep clean
your car's carpet.
I plan on doing the same to the gs
i might post up pix of the whole process
might do it sometime next month
