Default 1999gs400 vs 2004gs430ride quality

I currently have a gs 400 and have up graded it to look like a 430. I was wondering if the ride quaility is improved in the 430 to warrent a change in vehicles. Thanks

it wouldnt be worth the change. Just freshen up your suspension and bushings. The setups are about the same.

Added factory navigation from a 2004, and the wood grain steering wheel, chome 17" six spoke wheels.. ive replaced the a majority of the suspension items, bushings, shocks, ball joints, just stock replacement parts. just wish the ride was more like a newer tighter vehicle. I really enjoy the car and plan on keeping it.

Poly bushings on sways, caster arm and steering rack goes a long way. Top it off with nice shocks like Bilstein Sports and it will definitely drive and feel like a late model sport sedan. when I first had my GS, steering feel was sloppy and floated like a yacht, since addressing the suspension it improved 100%!

I went from a 99 GS400 to a 2005 G430. Both had the same suspension parts change out/upgraded but I found the GS430 much more refined. The 4.3 delivers smoother acceleration and it drives and feels much closer to my previously owned LS430 which was heavenly. Test drive one and see for yourself. From what I've heard the 2003-2005 GS430 is more refined compared to the 2001 & 2002.

2003 to 2005 had beefier #2 control arms so that would help in the suspension firmness, everything else should be the same geometry wise.

I've read that the gs430s had sportier suspension than gs300s? I looked at an add for a sport design gs300 and it said it had the sportier suspension from the gs430 and I was wondering if that were true, I figured they had the same suspension

I just check sewells online catalog. It lists the same part number on the 99 upper control arm as it does on the 05 control arm. They have the same price as well.. Does anyone know about a beefier control arm available?

I don't think the arms are "beefier". I do know that by late 2000 they changed that arm to a slightly larger unit where the bushing sits. It's larger in comparison to 98-early 00 models. But I don't think any changes were made specifically for the 03 and 05 models. From 01-05 they were all the same. The SD did get beefier UCA which are essentially the same arms used on the first gen GS models. Other than that and the PS steering ECU. I don't think there was any difference in suspension when comparing the 430 and the SD.

part numbers are all the same now for all models. the casters arms used for 03 to 05 are now used for all models 98 to 05..
