2001 Pioneer head unit in a 2000 GS 300
Hey Everyone,
My current stock Pioneer radio (P1708) has a half burnt out LCD and I want to replace it with something that works, but I want to keep it stock. I'm trying to contact Pioneer for the replacement LCD assembly but getting that part in Canada isn't as easy as just filling out the online order form.
I would also like to add an aux line, bluetooth or an iPhone plug... but it appears that all the solutions out there only work on 2001+ head units. There's a thread in this forum where one of the members converted the wiring harness in a 98-00 GS to the 01 head unit wiring. Here's the links to the relevant posts:

I was wondering if anyone had the wiring diagrams that labelled what each wire is for both the 2000 GS 300 and the 2001 GS 300. Has anyone else successfully converted their head units to a newer model?
Are the wiring harness connectors used proprietary? or do you think you could find them on digikey or mouser?

I'd rather keep the stock unit than go aftermarket. iPhone integration isn't that huge of a deal but if I find find the documentation I'd make it a side project.
Just heard back from Pioneer, LCD is available. I just have to order it all through email. Question is do I order the LCD or find an 01 head unit

there is literally no advantage to keeping the OEM unit aside from stock aesthetics.
in which case blaupunkt makes a nice OEM look solution
