Sorry, I think you said trade UP?
Congrats on the new ride. Do yourself a favor, get a warranty or put some $ aside for stuff like windows regulators and High Pressure Fuel Pumps. I know people who have replaced HPFPs four times. Don't chintz on repairs or they will turn in to major headaches later. It's a slippery slope with these cars.
I always said German cars are great vehicles to lease new. Ever check the value of a 10 year old BMW?
You'll be back...

Yeah, not to poo poo all over the new purchase, but I "tried" to step away form Lexus a few times, and have paid the price.
I went to a used E39 M5......great fun when it had no issues, a f'in nightmare when it started to break on me. When they start getting in the 90- 100k range dump them fast.
I also had a CL55, also loved it, but was smart enought to let it go before it turned into a nightmare.....which it would have.
BMW, Benz, Audi......all the same, great cars when under warranty, scary as **** when not.
My 02 LS430 that replaced the M5 is far more relaible than the M would ever be, and I bought the LS with 122k with zero hesitation

Yes, I have always heard that about german cars .
Mercedes , BMWs , Audis , nice cars while inside the warranty ... after that , very scary on your wallet when they have a problem .
I like BMWs , but I would not get into one for a long term .
I happens to have a nephew that owns a couple of used car dealerships and he always lease Beamers or Mercedes for his personal use for only 2 years ... after that , he tells me , they become a liability because they break down often and have to spend a lot of time at the dealer and if you buy the car and the warranty expires, you have a big problem , so , hearing the advice of professionals that make their living out of that , if I ever lease one of those it would be for 2 years , top .

Good luck with the new ride. My brother in-law had one of those for less than six months. It caught on fire one day and he only drove it less than a mile to the store. Good thing he didn't have to get on the freeway. Hope all goes well with your car.

you wish
you WISH just little problems, most 5 series trannys dont last past 120k and the engine thats a whole other story, god forbid you dont change the oil under 5k the engine might blow up. These BMWs were NOT made to be abused and still run like a lexus is, these old BMWs are like little princesses that need to be pampered to stay alive. Without pampering better believe it's going to leave you stranded, the 2GS was built to drive forever without NEEDING anything, most people change stuff just because they want it to drive better, with a BMW your gonna find yourself HAVING to change stuff very often or you wont be able to drive the car. But when its running it truly is a drivers car, but the new GS ****ted on BMW because they got reliability and performance under the same hood. Like everyone else said, run and get a warranty NOW or you will be crying about it later. How ever much it costs just one repair will cost more then the warrranty ever did. Thousands.....
