Hello Club Lex! I am hoping to get some feedback on a stalling problem I am having with my 1999 GS300. I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered in another thread, I tried searching about 8 pages but haven't found something similar.

So, here it is....

My 1999 GS300 tends to stall (choking for air) when I come to a stop after driving a good amount of time. I have to put the car in "N" and feather the gas peddle at about 1500 RPM to keep it from stalling. If the car does stall, its is a pain to get it restarted and have to floor the gas peddle to get it started, then feather to 1500 to keep it running. It seems like the vehicle is not getting enough air. Now, what is unique about the problem is, it happens when it is hot outside. I live in Las Vegas and summer months like now average 108+ degrees. Listed below are some details and things I have done to the car to help isolate the problem. Note- Cold startups are fine....

I experienced the problem last summer so I stopped driving it for a couple months. At the end of that summer I cleaned out the throttle body and the air flow sensor and no problems. Again, temp outside was less than 100 at that point. No problems through the winter or spring. As soon as summer came around this year, problem started again...

I'm thinking it is either my TPS or Air flow sensor... Any feedback would be awesome!

Car details - 167K miles, plugs/wires replaced (10K ago), fuel pressure regulator replaced (6K ago), timing belt replaced (30K ago), throttle body & air flow sensor cleaned (20K ago), car has been well maintained.

Look into your TPS that seems like what it is.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a diagram on the site where I can DIY for the IACV? New to the forum so I might not be looking in the right place...

There is no IACV on the car, idle is controlled by the electronic throttle system. Check the TPS and pedal position sensor, as they have been know to act up.

Ill take a look at the TPS tonight. In regards to the Pedal Sensor, if it was going out would the main symptom be limp mode? I am not having any acceleration issues at all...

Is there a way to actually test the TPS vs just replacing it? Don't want to replace the part if its still good but just needing a couple millimeter adjustment... And what should the gauge be reading at idle?
