Question on Tire size 2003 GS430
Hello Folks,
Greetings! I finally got myself a Lexus (2003 GS430) after running through 10 cars in the last 11 years. This is the best I've liked so far because it combines comfort, luxury and power.
I'm gonna be selfish/shrewd and jump to asking the experienced folks here with a couple of Qs. Please forgive me if I'm asking silly Qs.
:
Q1) I paid $500/- even for a complete set of 4 Rays gram LIGHTS 57S, 17", with tires( uneven), Pic attached. The rims are in good shape. Just that he has painted it Black. Did I pay more or less?
Q2) The black gram Lights 57S will look good on the Blue Marlin Pearl color of the car. I think. What do you think?
Q3) The stock tire size is: 235/45R17. I'm getting a good deal on 245/45R17 Goodyear Eagle GTs, almost 90% tread depth, for ~$300/-. Planning on putting the 245's on the gram LIGHTS. What are your suggestions or thoughts?
Q4) A stupid one to ask, sorry! My stock rims offset is 45mm(I think). The gram LIGHTS are at 40mm. Will this be okay? or should I get spacers?
Thanks in advance!

1) You paid less than the cost of new Gram Lights... although 17's with a lip are going to look smaller than the stock wheels because of the lip.
2) My opinion: black wheels will look alright, but it really only matters what YOU like since you paid for them and they're going on your car.
3) The 245/45's will look fine. I have 245/40 on my 18" 3GS wheels (or whatever Lexus model they're off of).
4) If you plan on lowering the car, I'd get spacers because otherwise they're going to be sunken inside of the fenders...
Good luck, and if you have any further questions please search (the Wheel Offset/Tire Q&A thread is an excellent reference).

Northstyle,
Thank you for your time and the comprehensive reply!
1. You may be right one the lip making the wheel look smaller. I've attached the side profile of the 57S... not much of a lip.. I think.
2. I wanted Gunmetal'ish rims.. but will try these out.
3. Assuming your reply means that the 245/45 tires wont rub the fender..
4. Nope, not gonna ever lower the car. Ever. (Have destroyed my S2000 and Accord(6spd)...) . Also assuming here that the offset difference wont rub the fender.
Thanks again!! Will read through the forums.. all night.

Nice to see another Blue marlin pearl. Appears you got a good deal on the wheels, but due to the design of the wheel it does make it look smaller than 17. What is the width of the wheel? The offset doesn't really mean much without knowing how wide the wheel is, that way we can accurately judge how the wheel will sit in the wheel well. I don't really think you will have a problem with rubbing (especially since you said you aren't going to lower it at all) but nobody can really say for sure without all the dimensions of the wheel. As for the color, I refinished my wheels in a metallic gunmetal so i'll post a pic so you can see Blue Marlin Pearl with gunmetal. Maybe the pic will help you with a future wheel purchase or refinishing. Great looking car, it'll last you forever with the proper care!

The gunmetal looks neat! Might try some time soon. Blue Marlin Pearl seems to be very rare. Bought the car with 97K miles on it. Getting the T-belt and water pump changed for $760/- at a Toyota showroom (Service) in Kirkland, Wa. They had a deal going on last month..
