Default Master cylinder questions

I'm fairly sure my master cylinder is slowly on it's way out, cars got 202k I have to press the brakes nearly halfway before it brakes, it still stops fine and everything, but i figure I should start saving and preparing to replace it, looking at used 01+ MCs on eBay, I've heard something is differen about them, what is it exactly? Do I need to get something else to make an 01+ work on a 99? I'll probably have a shop install it and don't want them to say they can't install it or something.

Are you 100% sure you don't have air in your lines? I would check that first since its free to do.

I had my brake fluid flushed a couple weeks ago, brakings a little better but still have to press in 1/4-halfway in before it starts to slow the car down. I mean I have no problems stopping but I feel like it should brake a lot better than it does

inspect your calipers. attach hose to bleed valve and depress brake. fluid should bleed. If fluid doesn't pass, there is internal leakage in Master cylinder.

My master cylinder failed on me but did not display common symptom of brake pedal sinking. This was because only one caliper was loosing pressure due to internal leaking.

Swap out your sensor from old master cylinder onto a 01+ model. Easy to install.
