Default which oil do i get? 2000 GS 300

Hi all,

I'll be getting an oil change this month, any recommendations? I dont know much about cars, but I do want to maintain it well and have it for the long haul

Mobil 1 94001 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil
mobil 1 10w-30 advanced full synthentic

or something else? I cant seem to find specifications on whats required except for this link which says semi synthetic

Either is fine, but I would go with the 5W-30.

That would have been my suggestion as well. Toyota brand oil is actually made by Mobil, so...

I would get castrol full synthatic instead. Mobile oils break down a lot faster than castrol.

I use Castrol high mileage 5W-30. Change it every 5,000. You are wasting your money with full synthetic if you change it every 5,000 miles. Just my two cents.

you should get off the computer and go to your local auto parts chain (autozone, oreilly, advanced auto, napa) and pick up the door flyer to see what's on sale.
Then buy any 5w-30 full synthetic or package deal that is on sale.
While things on amazon may seem good, they pale in comparison to sales you get locally. It is ridiculous to ship a box filled with quarts of oil around the country.

If you want more info, visit bobistheoilguy they have a subforum where people post out the sales, and what maybe hot.

Also, you said you are "getting an oil change" meaning you aren't doing it yourself.
Have you done the math to just see how much they will still charge you when you bring in your own oil? Often you may find your garage maybe reluctant to reduce prices by much just because you brought your own oil.

I'd rather go for 5W40 or 10W40, because the temperature range is higher. W30 oils are just moneymakers for the industry imho.
