Default How to remove headliner and install front/rear seatbelts?

I am looking to remove my headliner of my 98 GS and find out where my interior water leak is coming from. (rear driver carpet is soaked, front driver carpet is a little wet too)
I tried to search on this forum for instructions but couldn't find anything.

Also, I would like to replace the seatbelts of my car.

Is there any instructions in the 2000 Gs300 FSM?
My copy doesn't have a table of contents so I'm having a hard time finding it.

If anyone has any experience with replacing seat belts or removing the headliner please post here.

To remove the headliner, youbfirst mustvremove the rear seat. Then, you must remove the rear left & right panels. You’ll need a long narrow pry bar or something similar to pop the plastic clips out that hold the panels in.

Once the rear rear seat is out and the rear headliner panels removed, take out the grab bars(?), headliner lights and front visors. Then pull back the door weather stripping so it’s not interfering with the headliner.

At this point the headliner is hanging free. There are two plastic clips near the back to pop out and a metal hook/slider that also supports the rear of the headliner. Slide the headliner forward to get it off the “hook”.

The headliner should be free or just about.

Sounds harder than it is. Once you do it you’ll see what I mean. A Phillips and 10, 12 mil sockets is all you need.

And the rear seat belts will be pretty much staring you in the face at this point. The front seat belts require the front seats to come out if I recall. Buts it’s just nuts and bolts nothing complicated.

Kinda like explaining how to use a straw. Lol. Kinda thing you just have to do to see how easy it is.

dont worry, you can’t break or damage anything. just be careful not to bend, crease the headline to much.

good luck

Anyone ever find a video on removing the headliner from the vehicle? I've looked, but had no luck. I want to get the headliner out of the car too. Is that possible without bending / creasing the headliner? Thanks so much

Be careful with all the clips and the headliner itself. Start at the back and remove the rear seats, then the pillars near the rear windshield. Just follow the edges and be careful with it. Have u tried removing the long trim that runs on the outside of the car? Im talking about the long skinny one that runs from the front windshield to the back window? It might help see if the drain hose is working properly. Good luck
