Picked up an 01 gs300 for $1300 today. Shes a bit beat but I'm excited to fix her up!

It matters because the amount of money he is going to spend on the repairs for that car, he could use towards a purchase of another GS in better condition. That GS just isn't worth the headache to me....
Like I originally had stated....best of luck to the guy.

Fun fun fun..
Thanks again for the replies.
Yes, I said "fiance" and "first car" amid all of that. I am a female, this is technically my first car (my sister and I used to share but that's besides the point and I have always lived in a major city without really needing the use of a full time vehicle) and I happen to be engaged.
Anyways, had our friend check her out today, no major issues. Going to have him look at the ball joints as suggested and most likely replace them. Also going to replace some minor parts. After that, we will fix the rear end / taillight/ bumper. The interior will be next on the agenda; I got some of the paint off today with some elbow grease and already it's looking a tad better. I've decided not to dump too much into this, just want it to be cleaner. Seat covers in the back until we decide what to do. (still leaning towards replacing them). But my dogs don't really give a damn what their car seats look like. Meanwhile, she's handling surprisingly well and I'm not too mad at this ridiculously cheap functioning automobile.
HE still wants to do a full overhaul. I don't think it is necessarily worth it. I just want in clean, relatively nicer looking, and mechanically sound.

did everyone miss the part about you wanting to have your dogs in the car?:/
i understand were your coming from as far as not needing it to be "perfect"(most people on here are complete opposite)if i were you id fix whats broken +some preventative and be done with it.i too had to haul my dogs around in my 1st gs and it ended up needing complete interior overhaul after 3 years of it.
id fix the bumper/quarter panel
paint/blend
ball joints
timing belt water pump ect.
tint the windows really dark so the interior isnt visible ( thats what i did once my dogs got ahold of it)
if you fix the inteior your not going to want dogs in it so id leave it be if you really drive your dogs around more than 2 time a week
