DIY: Radar hardwire using invisicord (rearview mirror)
So after browsing and searching the forums, I couldn't find a write up about hardwiring their radar to their rear view mirror power source. I previously had a Infiniti which I used an invisicord, and it was the cleanest and simplest way for a hardwire; I wanted to do the same with the GS. I also wanted to make use of my Invisicord which I paid $12 for lol (you can purchase it at invisicord.com and it plugs into the factory harness)
Step 1: Remove the light cover and homelink unit
Once the homelink unit drops down, unplug it from the harness
Step 2: Remove the four screws; one on each side of the dome light and two behind the homelink unit
Step 3: Unplug the dome light and sunroof power harness. Using a small flathead screw driver push in on the side clip to unlock it, then remove the harness.
Step 4: Locate the rear-view mirror harness and run your cable through;
Step 5: Using your invisicord pin your ground to the black wire and power to the red wire
Step 6: Make sure every thing works and reverse steps 3-6 and you're done! If you don't have an invisicord, i'm assuming you can also do a wire tap instead.
Hope this thread makes sense lol It was a quick write up. If you have any questions just post and i'll do my best to answer them.
