How long is too long to get a tranny flush?
Ok, my car has 197k, i was going to go to lexus this week and have my tranny fluid flushed, I have service history and it was changed like 4-5 times up to 100k, 100k was the last time I have documentation of it being done. Although it's possible it got done after that, anyway I know you don't wanna change it if it hasn't been done in a long time.. Is 97k (possibly) too long? Would I be killing my transmission?

I just did 3 drain and fills over the course of 3k...one every 1k miles, about 4 quarts each time I think which cost me $6 A quart from the dealer so all said and done still cost less than what a flush would have been and the transmission fluid is cherry red. I probably could have only done it twice, but it was really easy

When doing this, no need for a new tranny filter? My fluid is starting to turn brown and have no way of telling if the previous owner replaced anything. I just don't want to have to deal with slipping.

I did end up going to lexus and they performed the full flush with toyota fluid, even after 97k transmission has been fine, no slipping. I was nervous at first

OP, how much did that fluid change run you? I'll do this drain and fill once I change my oil mid year. Go ahead and know both of them out while I'm under the car and fluid is hot.
