I like the second pic as well. Yes that center bar is not working for me either. Is it there for support for the horizontals? If it is, maybe it can go sideways behind the horizantals.

[QUOTE=Sevenevez;8374233]i double mesh'd mine. heard that people were saying the factory mesh you could too easily see through. so i used cheap gutter guard from the hardware store and had 2 layers.

I like this, Imma have to do this to my TRD grill!!

If I were u I would make notches where the grille curves inward on both sides, so their not behind the grill but actually sitting in the middle and pointed slightly downward..

ok So I got a bit bored today and decided to have a crack at trying to curve flat bar sideways and it actually came out very well. I tried to get pic of what it would look like but its impossible to try and hold 5 bars in position and take a pic but you get the idea.

I used "perforated" mesh from customcargrills on eBay in my grill and kit, the stuff pictured above looks more like a diamond pattern but they've got a variety of patterns and can be purchased powdercoated black. Sturdy, quality stuff, good finish, worth the extra money over chicken wire type stuff IMO.

Ok so today I put slots into my centre bar with a slight tilt down. Tomorrow I will put small slots into the across bars so where they meet is flush and locked into place. Next from the back ill space the bars and weld them to a hidden bar that runs down the side on the inside to keep everything in place. Ill send the surround off tomorrow to be wrapped and while that's happening ill polish the slats.

Coming along nicely. I would probably bend the top few slats and gradually make them straighter as they go to the bottom. The top of the fiberglass part is quite a curve and might look a little off if the slats go straight immediately
