Default Will i be the first to attempt this on here..

So in my silverado and chrysler300 i put a ipad in place of my stock radio. Im thinkig of installing one in my gs. I had the connections pretty unprofessionaly cutout behind the dash and had an app that would automatically lock the ipad when its not charging. (When the car is turned off) it was also tethered to my iphones internet so i had full use of the gps and safari. the stock radio was still behind the ipad. And volume was controlled with the steering controls. For my 300, radio was rewired to my center console. My only problem is i have the navi and ac controls would be a problem. I took some pictures and it looks like it would be a perfect fit. I wonder if i could use a older or after market stereo and put the ac controls in my center but im not sure about the steering volume control if i go that path. Anyone done this to there gs? It looks like a perfect fit and if i did some cutting for placement it would have a nice v design. With enough room to see and use the home button. I guess when im bored enough i will attempt this since i still have the ipad from the chrysler or i will buy another ipad 1 on craigslist for like 150 witch IMO is alot cheaper then buying a double din. Here are a few pictures of the install in my chrysler. I personally think it looked factory, as that was the goal
It was a pretty solid fit u needed to take the ac vents out to remove the aux from the head jack to remove the ipad itself, the pictures of it in the gs doesnt look like a good fit but its cause they big navi ***** were in the way.

Test fit with ipad 2

that will never look factory, it will look like an ipad shoved in ur dash. The exterior of our cars looks too old for something like that to pass as factory.

Yeah it will. The silver trim around the ipad matches the gauge rings well. If you measure it the ipad almost the exact same as the navi

awesome link..... The mini flows perfect in the dash IMO....

OP a custom fiberglass enclosure might look better for the regular ipad..... There's some some good youtube videos on custom installs....

In my opinion, I don't think it looks factory. It sticks out to much. At the end of the day if your comfortable with how it looks that's all that matters.
