If the oil control valve on the cam position it will cause high cam overlap and hurt idle and probably hurt low end power till it gets higher in rpm range.
No issues, so never did it, but it could cause it. I would look at everything else first.
Does it idle ok when it is first started after overnight sit? If so, likely NOT oil control valve.

thanks guys, the car idles perfectly fine when started just when in drive position, i get a bit of roughness. this problem is so unique, i dont have any symtoms of a head gasket problem nor is my tps/idle motor/maf sensors bad.
