Recently my brake light on the cluster keeps coming on. Its intermittent, but from researching it seems to point to low brake fluid. I just had my wheels put on and the shop said the brakes were ok, still plenty of wear left.

That being said, which brake fluid can I use with the existing stuff in there? Ive looked at these, but not sure if there is something better?

That means u have a malfunctioning bulb, has nothing to do with brake fluid...

Hey Flocko

If his BMC fluid is low it will trigger the brake light on the cluster, it usually does it when taking sharp turns since the fluid goes to one side and the sensor picks it up.

Before doing all this, have you ACTUALLY looked at the brake fluid reservoir under the hood and made sure it's somewhere above the MINIMUM mark? If the tank's a bit low but above the minimum level, that's OK because as your brakes wear thinner, the fluid runs down a little further into the system to take up the slack.

Btw, if it stays on after I find the malfunctioning bulb, can it be reset by disconnecting the battery?

I checked the brake fluid level and it is just a smidge above the min line but well below the max line.

Thank you ****-adkt, I think this is exaclty whats happening. It comes on and off at random times when driving.

Ok, in that case topping off the fluid just a little bit (but don't go to the MAX line, or it'll just overflow when you do replace in new rotors/pads) might help get rid of one of the potential causes, from what it sounds like.

By the way, my low fuel light eventually comes on whenever I drive a long distance.
Any idea why this keeps happening?

Do you have a recommended brake fluid brand/type for your GS? I know that the GS uses DOT3. I know you cant mix DOT5 with it but I hear that I could add DOT4 or DOT5.1.

Im not going to do a full bleed but will do that soon.
