"Oh heck no, that car has alot more life left if its been well taken cared for.. If you need a car, I would keep it, the car is built like a Tank.. still worth atleast $6-7K even with that high mileage..

Thats good to hear. I've just always been a little skeptical of luxury cars. I was looking for some reliable transportation, maybe this is it."
No need to be so Antagonistic, Ofcourse, its worth less with higher miles on "trade" is lower, but given the lack of good used cars on dealer lots. Its still an '02. Have you seen whats for sale out there? You can't get anything under $5K worth a damn out there is why I overinflated the value some because the GS430 probably still a good buy at even 300K miles. Know the market, know whats selling, Pure pricing alone is Just Rhetoric..

What condition is the interior and paint/body in? 345,000 miles can mean two different things depending on how well the car was taken care of. Pics plz!!

Sorry it took me so long to get pics up. Tried to get a good shot of the hickey on the passenger's rear quarter panel.

ummmm.... were you off your meds when you were considering the scrap yard for this car??? LOL Depending on how well the engine was maintained the rest of the car looks like it's in pretty good shape to me. That's a keeper for sure.

Hey. I've never seen a car with 345k miles. In my mind I had inherited a ticking time bomb that was waiting to blow up on me. After having the car for a week/doing my research, I can rest a little bit easier.

WOW. Were the seats reupholstered? They look good for (the driver's seat!!) for having 345k miles. LOL mine has lines/creases and a tiny tear, and I thought THAT was good (from the 2 others I went to look at). BTW, if you want, you can clean up the stains and discoloration from the seats and arm rest in less than 5 minutes. Just get a roll of those Arm&Hammer all purpose car care wipes or leather wipes and apply some pressure as you wipe the dirty area down. I was surprise how much dark crap came off onto the wipe and how much "newer" my arm rest and seats looked after. All those years of use leave a layer of dirt you can't always see!

The paint looks great, other than the front bumper scratch and that rear ding, I'd say it's a keeper for sure. Whoever owned it before looks to have taken care of it. As mentioned earlier, as long as the engine/tranny is good I think you're in good shape. Can you get any records from the hand-me-downer? If you want to, sign up on LexusOwners official website and from there you can find any dealer records of service that was done to the car from the day it was imported. That should help you get an idea of the initial service history of the car.

Yes, I have the service records. It does look like they were pretty meticulous with the maintenance. To my knowledge they never re-upholstered the seats or anything like that.

Put a feeler ad out on the Dallas craigslist to see if there's any interest in the car. Am gonna need something a bit better on gasoline.

Ahh.. I'm kind of in the same spot with my daily 75 mile commute, but I figured I'm done trying to play the used car game for a bit, so I'm sticking with my GS4. I saw your ad, looks good, but don't expect it to sell too fast being it's a GS4 and people don't seem to bite as fast as you'd want it seems, though I think it's priced pretty decently. I got my '98 for around the price you're asking, plus I spent some more on the timing belt service and suspension odds and ends and 2 new tires so far, to give you an idea.

I guess I don't really mind if it doesn't sell quickly. I'm enjoying the car a lot. My roommate didn't believe me when I told him the mileage. Might post a classified ad on here once I hit the requisite time/# of posts. Do you all know if theres any way to speed up that process?

Not bad for a 10+ year old car with 300k+ on the clock. Impressed! Hang on to it. You won't get much in a private party sale and forget about trade in. Might as well make it a keeper....
