hello does anyone know of a diy for a head gasket replacement or what needs to come off to get to the head, I need some info on this asap thanks for the read fellas

It's a huge complicated job. Not something you want to do if you're a noob. Not without an experienced person standing buy. It's a job that requires a torque wrench and precision. Do it wrong and you'll end up needing a new cylinder head. Should do the timing belt and water pump while you're at it.

You may be very experienced but, asking for a DIY suggests otherwise. I'd never do this job without the manual handy.

Buy a used engine. There are places that import the engines from japan and you can get em for the price of a expensive torque wrench. I was quoted 490 for a used one with 110k and one just core for 350. Thats for a 1uz or 2jz. Of course a gs430 would be a little more expensave

I had same problem. Started with first engine needed head Gasket. I purchased a used engine and changed it. Only had 120K on used engine. A month later it needed a headgasket. I am changing it now. have head almost out, stuck on intake manifold. seems like must remove it before head is taken out. Looks like wiring harness goes through it. Looks like a royal pain to remove intake manifold. Any input be appreciated.

Keep it on and unbolt it on the work bench... pull the wire harness out first.

2001 GS300
Head is out getting checked. Supposed to get it back today. Searching for parts. re-torquing head bolts will be a pain. Is it ok to use those metal gasket advertised as no re-torqing required. Anyone has used those? I am buying new headbolts and washers. Any advise for reinstallation will be appreciated. Parts Geek has it for $144.00, not sure to use it or not. Thanks.
