Default Locks cycle twice

So last night I tried using the key in the door lock to open/close the windows in my 02 GS 300. this morning i noticed that now my drivers door does not lock or unlock withe the remote or by pushing the door button, though i can hear it click. Also, when i push the lock button on the remote, the locks all cycle twice.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

One of your door lock actuators has died. One of your doors is not locking and therefore the car tries to lock it again.

yes it will if you are programming it yourself since it follows a lock unlock cycle to program

Ya mine recently started doing that.. since then my passenger rear has completely crapped out and my drivers rear only unlocks but does not lock.. there is a diy on this forum to replace the door lock actuators. I intend to do that soon. After I replace my bj's and fix my sunroof rattle

Default Exact same thing happened to me on my LS400 BUT I fixed it

I called my Lexus mechanic. He only works on Lexus. Thats it. He told me to sit in the car, turn it on, activate the switch on the door panel which locks all doors, then unluck them the same way. (did lock and unlocked twice actually), then try to use the remote to see if it will now lock and unlock. It worked. Amazing. Not saying that will work for you, but its worth a try. I have a 99 LS400.

This can happen without the actuators being faulty. I had the same issue after replacing the actuators with tested units and had to do the reset as gone over above to get it to stop.

This is the answer I was looking for. I’ll try this right now and let you know if it works on my GS.

update: Sadly, it did not work for me. I’ve changed my key fob battery recently and all of my actuators, so I know they all work. My friend had to grab something from my car and used the key to manually unlock the passenger side, which screwed up my keyless entry. Before that, it worked perfectly. Now, it doesn’t work at all.

Pretty sure the post you quoted needed to unlock/lock from the inside because their actuators were causing issues. Might help for a minute but they eventually completely go out
