Blue book is around $10k for that mileage. Mods usually don't add much to value.

What's the color combo? If its blue or red, I would be interested and the value may be higher.

No way he gets more than $10k for that year, unless it's from someone who REALLY LOVES GS's. Yeah it's low miles, but the car is is over 15 years old.

I know what market value is for these things but they often go for alot higher, I've watch sales Threads on here (you can search) and look at autotrader, cars.com. I seen a few '98 and '99s with 40-50K miles sold between $12-$14K IN STOCK FORM. You might think its high but in recent years (at that time) even NADA had then around $12-$13K. I also have a '99 with 49K miles.

Another example 2-3 years ago, a friend of mine decide to buy a 2000 Platinum GS400 - Black/Blk with 77K miles from Car Max, and you know how they sell at Market value, Real market value.. They had it listed for $14,899.. No haggle pricing, he bought against my advice, I even said price is too high but Thats Market value for that car 2-3 years ago..

If you look - you will find...

Here's an Ad on Autotrader, '99 GS400, base model, no spoiler, no wheels, no options just standard GS400 with 51K miles -- priced $13,488. ^^I understand what you are saying, but just because someone is silly enough to pay the inflated prices, doens't mean that's it's true value. If I listed my car at $15k, and someone bought it, that doesn't mean that's the true market value.

You said that, and I agree. I see them post for high prices and those cars go within a week or two. Market price is whatever people will pay. plus I don't think you realize how rare a GS400 is, especially with low miles. Its impossible to find, its supply and demand. Like it or not, they go for way over market value, and it gets Sold.. I've been watching for years, ask any dealer if they had a low mileage GS400, what they would price, its always around $12K+ and they always sell them.. Its not silly when people buy them. Regardless if its over value, mechanically, car is barely broken in for a car priced new is $52K. Age doesn't matter if the car is clean or kept up well, I use to be professional car buyer and there are things I seen you will never believe, cars that are hard to come by and a GEM like the GS400 will always sell well if its a low miler. I get emails from my dealers all the time asking me to sell my GS's so they can have good inventory. Granted you have GS300, you really have to understand a GS400 is another animal. They only made about 20% of all GS's from 1998-2000. Another fact you may not know, Alot of GS400 from 99-00 where special order only. I know, I had to Special order my '99 because they just don't stock these cars like the GS300's.. Anyways, its Moot point discussing this since its proven these cars sell at even ridiculous prices but its good for people like us with GS400's.. Cheers bro.. You know me, I'm Don from Club lexus Houston on FB..
